Welcome to Woodlake Valley Middle School where "Knowledge is Power!"  

The purpose of Woodlake Valley Middle School is to provide a safe environment and a rigorous quality education that results in productive, responsible, global citizens and lifetime learners. The faculty and staff at Woodlake Valley Middle School are taking part in building a Professional Learning Community (PLC) by working together to help students reach proficiency in grade-level academic standards as well as reach their potential in developmentally appropriate social and emotional growth.

WVMS staff and students practice reflection in their teaching and learning and look for meaningful ways to reach instructional and academic goals.  This process of reflection uses data as a means of informing staff of the effectiveness of instructional practice. In addition, instructional staff uses methods of Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) that have been proven effective through educational research. We, WVMS staff, share a collective responsibility for the achievement of all students. We believe that all students can learn at a high level, failure is not an option, and hope is not a strategy.  Along with our high-quality core curriculum programs, we also provide tiered interventions that are progressive, systematic, and research proven to help students at risk of failing.

The school collaborates with various community services to provide a comprehensive system that enables students and families to become successful members of the community-at-large. 

Woodlake Valley Middle School is located in the city of Woodlake, California. The school draws its population from Woodlake and the surrounding community of Elderwood. The student population reflects the ethnic background of the community which consists of: 85.7% Hispanic and 17% Anglo, 37.4% of students being English Learners and 98.5% Socio-economically disadvantaged.   The student enrollment of Woodlake Valley Middle School is roughly 500.

School staffing includes: Principal, two Learning Directors and 23 FTE teachers to offer the instructional program. Students take core classes of Language, Math, Science, Social Studies and PE. There are elective programs of choral and instrumental music, art and woodshop. 

WVMS has adopted and implemented a character program call Bengal University (BU) to promote positive behavior. This program is built into our master schedule and it comes with its own curriculum. It has made a huge impact on the atmosphere and culture of the school, student suspension has decreased, and our goal is to increase ADA by 2% from the previous year.
